About finesse jewellers
Hello! We are Phil and Vanessa, both apprentice trained jewellers, who met when we worked at Thorntons Jewellers in 1998. Two years later an opportunity arose to start our own business when the shop at 19 James Street, Bradford became vacant and Finesse (Phil & Ness) Jewellers was born.
We redecorated the shop and took a chance on selling a completely different style of jewellery to Thorntons Jewellers. Instead, concentrating on unusual stone set silver jewellery, with a small selection of precious metal and diamond jewellery. Over the years jewellery from the Navajo Indians was introduced, silver enamel work from the Orkneys and unusual pieces from Tibet and China as well as Storm watches and bespoke jewellery.
During this time we took on a second premises in Kirkgate Market, Bradford which Phil ran on a daily basis whilst I, Vanessa, still ran the original shop. Phil built up the repair service at the stall and we found ourselves with lots of wonderful customers, who valued Phil’s determination and skill when it came to manufacturing and repairing jewellery and watches. finesse jewellers in Kirkgate has always sold more traditional precious metal jewellery, a range of silver and a wide variety of watches including Storm, Seiko, Pulsar and Limit.
In 2008 we closed the James St. shop down with great sadness, but also for the very happy reason of starting our family. Our daughter was born and I began to work in the background whilst bringing up the first of our 2 children.
In 2014 we again branched out and took on a new business in Brighouse called Neimantas Jewellers. To do this Phil needed to move on to the new shop and finesse jewellers took on a family friend, Kamran, as its newest member of staff. Kamran has taken to the role like a natural and is a brilliant jeweller and watch maker as well as a very popular, friendly member of our team. This was also the year our second child was born. I was now bringing up and advocating for 2 amazing autistic children whilst still working in the background.
Many of you may know that Kirkgate Market is due to close next year and that Bradford Council are building the new Darley Street Market in an incredible Eco-friendly building. It is our hope to move to these premises in the future and again branch out into more unusual silver jewellery as well as offering the traditional items which the stall has carried for many years. We will continue our in-house watch and jewellery repair service as well as our ever popular watch batteries and straps.
Our staff team is made up of Phil who is a highly skilled jeweller and is sort out by many people to make bespoke jewellery and undertake complicated repairs.
Kamran is a brilliant jeweller who can give new life to broken jewellery and watches and I keep things running, carry out insurance valuations and take on some of the many jewellery repairs.
